Parking and permits

San Luis rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.

Key rule: In San Luis, a vehicle with a rated chassis capacity over three-fourths of a ton may stand or park on a local street in a residential area only while it is being loaded or unloaded.

San Luis limits vehicles with a rated chassis capacity over three-fourths of a ton, along with tractors, semitrailers, trailers and buses, to loading and unloading on local residential streets, and a separate section bars trailers from public land, alleys and rights-of-way. Boats, campers and travel trailers may be kept on residential lots if they stay behind the property line, while commercial vehicles over one and a half tons may not be parked on residential lots. Parking in front of driveways and alley entrances, and parking that impedes traffic, is prohibited, and downtown paid parking allows five hours at most.
