Moving labor

Hire moving help for a storage unit move

A crew loads your truck at home and unloads it into your storage unit. They stack it so you can reach the things you'll need later.

Labor only. You rent the truck, trailer or container and drive it. The crew lifts, carries, loads and unloads. If you need help at two addresses, each one is booked separately.

What the crew handles

  • Loading at home and unloading into the storage unit, or the reverse
  • Stacking the unit tightly, keeping an aisle for items you'll need
  • Standing sofas and mattresses safely to save floor space, where appropriate
  • Moving items between units at the same facility

What you arrange

  • The storage unit rental, plus gate codes, hours and your lock
  • The truck and the driving between home and the facility
  • Any facility rules on cart use, elevators or loading bays

Who it's for

  • People between homes who are putting belongings in storage
  • Anyone clearing a home for staging, renovation or sale
  • People moving out of a unit and into a new home

What gets confirmed before your move

These details change how long the job takes. We agree on them in writing before we schedule a crew.

  • The unit size, whether it's indoor or drive-up, and which floor it's on
  • Facility access hours and any rules for outside moving crews
  • Whether you need help at both places (home and facility) or only one
  • How much will go into the unit, and whether it fits

How to prepare

  • Confirm the facility's access hours cover the whole appointment
  • Have the gate code and your lock key ready
  • Pack uniform boxes. They stack far better than bags and bins.
  • Make a short list of items you'll need to reach later

Equipment and materials

You provide

  • The truck, your lock and the unit
  • Pallets or a plastic sheet if your facility recommends one for the floor

Confirm when you book

  • Whether the crew brings pads and a hand truck, or uses facility carts
  • Whether mattress covers or furniture covers are available

What affects time and price

Labor is priced by time and crew size. We haven't published rates, minimums or fees yet. This list shows what changes the number of hours.

  • One end or bothHelp at home and at the facility is two stops. Plan both.
  • Distance to the unit doorDrive-up units are quick. Interior units down long hallways take longer.
  • Upper-floor unitsFreight elevators and carts add time to every trip.
  • Box uniformityMatching boxes stack fast and use space well.

Specialty and heavy items

Some storage facilities restrict certain items. Heavy items like safes and appliances also need a plan for floor loading and access. Check your facility's rules and flag heavy items in the planner.

We check pianos, safes, gym equipment, pool tables, hot tubs and anything over about 300 lb one at a time. Some may need a specialist.

Questions about storage moves

Do I need help at both the house and the storage unit?

Often, yes. Loading at home and unloading at the facility are two parts of one job. The planner lets you describe each address.

Will you drive my things to storage?

No. You drive the truck. The crew can meet you at the facility if both addresses are in the same service area.

How big a unit do I need?

Facilities publish size guides. Tight, careful stacking fits more into the unit you choose.
