Hire moving help for an apartment move
A crew carries your things through the stairs, elevators and hallways of your apartment or condo. They load or unload your truck within your building's move rules.
Labor only. You rent the truck, trailer or container and drive it. The crew lifts, carries, loads and unloads. If you need help at two addresses, each one is booked separately.

What the crew handles
- Carrying items through hallways, stairwells and elevators
- Loading or unloading the truck at the curb or loading dock
- Protecting elevator interiors with pads when the building provides hooks or blankets
- Basic disassembly of beds and tables to fit tight turns, when agreed
What you arrange
- The truck and the driving
- Elevator reservation, loading-dock time and building approval for the crew
- Any certificate of insurance your building may ask the crew to provide (requirements to be confirmed)
- Parking for the truck close to the entrance
Who it's for
- Renters moving in or out of walk-up and elevator buildings
- Condo owners whose building restricts move hours
- Anyone moving from a house into an apartment, or the other way
What gets confirmed before your move
These details change how long the job takes. We agree on them in writing before we schedule a crew.
- Which floor, and whether there's an elevator, a freight elevator, or neither
- Building move hours and whether the elevator must be reserved
- Whether the building requires paperwork or insurance documents from the crew
- Where the truck can legally park, and the walking distance
How to prepare
- Book the elevator and loading dock as early as your building allows
- Ask management for their move-in or move-out rules in writing
- Measure your largest furniture against stairwell turns and doorways
- Reserve street parking or check whether your city needs a permit
Equipment and materials
You provide
- The truck, plus elevator keys or fobs
- Building-required floor or wall protection, if the building doesn't provide it
Confirm when you book
- Whether the crew brings pads and a hand truck
- Whether the crew can provide any documents your building asks for
What affects time and price
Labor is priced by time and crew size. We haven't published rates, minimums or fees yet. This list shows what changes the number of hours.
- Floor and stairsWalk-ups above the second floor take much longer per item.
- Elevator accessA reserved freight elevator is fast. A shared passenger elevator can mean long waits.
- Hallway lengthLong corridors and far-off loading docks add time to every trip.
- Building time windowsStrict move hours can mean more crew to finish in time.
Specialty and heavy items
Heavy items in walk-up buildings, like safes, pianos, large appliances and solid-wood furniture, may need extra crew or may not be practical. Flag them early.
We check pianos, safes, gym equipment, pool tables, hot tubs and anything over about 300 lb one at a time. Some may need a specialist.
Questions about apartment moves
Do I need to reserve the elevator?
Many buildings require it. Ask your management office. The planner asks if you need a reservation so you don't forget.
My building wants a certificate of insurance from the crew. Can you provide one?
We haven't confirmed that yet. Add the requirement to the planner so we can address it before booking.
Is a fourth-floor walk-up a problem?
No, but it takes more time and sometimes more helpers. Tell us the floor so we can plan the right time and crew.
Need help with apartment moves?
Tell us about your move. We'll show how many helpers you need and for how long. Then send a request. We'll email you to confirm the time and price.
