New Albany moving questions
Do I need permission to put a POD or dumpster in the street in New Albany?
The city code says rights-of-way may only be used for traffic unless the Board of Public Works and Safety gives written permission. Property placed there without permission can be removed and impounded by the Street Commissioner.
Can a big moving truck park on a New Albany street?
Vehicles with a declared gross weight over 26,000 pounds or longer than 25 feet may not park on any public street or right-of-way, though the rule does not prevent parking or standing in areas zoned for loading or unloading freight or merchandise.
Can I leave a trailer on the street in New Albany?
In residential areas, trailers of any type may not be left on a public street or right-of-way. A property owner may park a trailer (not a semi-trailer) in front of their own property for up to 24 hours at a time and 72 hours a year if it does not impair traffic, but a separate code section bars any non-self-propelled vehicle from city streets, alleys and rights-of-way.
Can I put up my own no-parking signs for moving day in New Albany?
Not without permission. The code makes it unlawful to post any sign forbidding parking on a city street unless the city's Traffic Commission has granted permission.
