Wichita rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.
Key rule: In Wichita, trucks, trailers and commercial vehicles may not park on a residential street for more than two hours without a Use of Street Permit or Use of Right of Way Permit, except when needed for loading or unloading or for services at a residence.
In Wichita, City Code Section 11.52.020(24) bars trucks, trailers, semitrailers, recreational vehicles and commercial vehicles from residential streets for more than two hours (counted per side of the block over 24 hours) unless they hold a Use of Street Permit or Use of Right of Way Permit, with an exception while loading or unloading property; for this rule a truck is a vehicle with a GVWR over 14,000 pounds. Anyone temporarily using a street, sidewalk or alley needs a Use of Street Permit, which has a $55 base charge plus a per-square-foot daily fee. No vehicle may sit on a street for 48 hours or more, and city crews plow only designated emergency, secondary and school access streets.
