Parking and permits

Central rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.

Key rule: In Central, using a street right-of-way for a private purpose, such as storing equipment or other material on it, requires the city's express permission in the form of a written permit from the Director of Public Works.

Central's code bars private use of the street right-of-way, such as storing equipment or material, without a written permit from the Director of Public Works. In the R1, R2 and R3 districts, trucks or semitrailers with more than two axles or over 2,000 pounds of payload may not be parked on or next to the owner's property, and any vehicle may stay parked on a street for no more than nine hours in a 24-hour period. Front-yard grass parking is prohibited in those districts, and designated streets ban parking from 2:45 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. except Sundays.
