Detroit rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.
Key rule: In Detroit, commercial vehicles and trailers can't be parked on residential streets at any time, except while expeditiously loading or unloading at an address on the same block.
In Detroit, the City Code bans commercial vehicles, trailers and motor homes from residential streets at any time, with an exception for expeditious loading or unloading at an address within the same block, and limits them to one hour on commercial streets. Placing a dumpster or closing part of a street or sidewalk needs a Right of Way permit from the Department of Public Works' City Engineering Division. In winter, parking on snow emergency routes is banned automatically one hour after 2 inches of snow accumulates between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m.
