Austin rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.
Key rule: In Austin, no vehicle may be left standing on a street for more than 12 continuous hours.
Austin's city code limits any vehicle to 12 continuous hours on a street, and semi-trailers and truck-tractors may park in residential districts only while actually loading or unloading. A truck may back up to the curb only when its load makes parallel parking impractical, and only long enough to load or unload. Construction and remodeling dumpsters placed in the street must sit next to the curb, extend no more than eight feet out, and be removed within 30 days, and snow emergencies run 72 hours with parking banned on listed streets from 1 to 8 a.m.
