Parking and permits

Ramsey rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.

Key rule: In Ramsey, an obstruction permit is required before blocking or obstructing any street parking, curb and gutter, sidewalk or traffic lane.

Ramsey requires an obstruction permit before anything blocks street parking, the curb and gutter, a sidewalk or a traffic lane, and the city engineer can issue special permits for backing a vehicle to the curb to load or unload. Commercial motor vehicles can't be parked on public streets without council approval, but residential moving vehicles that are actively loading or unloading without blocking traffic are exempt. Street parking is banned year-round from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m., and after two inches of snow, parking resumes only once the street is cleared curb to curb.
