Carlsbad rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.
Key rule: In Carlsbad, an RV or other recreational equipment may be stored in an enclosed building but may not be stored in the public right-of-way.
Carlsbad's zoning code lets operable RVs, boats and trailers be parked or stored outdoors as long as the front and side setbacks stay clear, but bars storing RVs and other recreational equipment in the public right-of-way; using the right-of-way takes an encroachment permit from the Director of Public Works. The traffic chapter prohibits overnight street parking in A, B or C residential districts for trucks over 10,000 gross vehicle weight and trailers over 15 feet. For trash pickup, moving boxes must be broken down to fit the receptacle, and large rubbish like discarded furniture must be cut to no more than four feet and 75 pounds and set in the alley or at the curb.
