Union rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.
Key rule: In Union, a portable storage container such as a POD may sit on the driveway in front of the home for up to six months without a Town permit.
These rules come from the Town of Union government's Town Code; the villages of Endicott and Johnson City inside the town have their own codes, and the Town's heavy-vehicle street rule applies outside them. Once snow covers the road, no vehicle may be parked on Town or county highways until they are plowed, except on the streets with alternate-side parking from November 1 to April 1. Vehicles over 8,000 pounds total gross weight can't park on streets in the Town's residential districts, and a POD or U-Box may sit on the front driveway for up to six months without a permit, though trailers and similar vehicles can't serve as storage containers.
