Grants Pass rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.
Key rule: In Grants Pass, a residential moving van that counts as an oversize vehicle under city code may park on the street for up to eight hours while loading or unloading, versus 15 minutes for other oversize vehicles.
In Grants Pass, the city code bars oversize vehicles (including any vehicle or load over 9 feet tall or 7.5 feet wide) from parking on streets in or next to residential and commercial zones, but residential moving vans may stay up to eight hours while loading or unloading, and a city permit is another exception. Trailers can't be left on the street between 5pm and 6am unless attached to an operable vehicle, no vehicle may stay on a street more than 72 hours, and alley parking is limited to 30 minutes of loading or unloading. Leaving an impediment to travel on a street falls under the encroachment ordinance's permit requirement.
