Bristol rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.
Key rule: In Bristol, no commercial vehicle may park on a public street, alley or right-of-way in a residential district between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., except while actively loading or unloading it.
Bristol's code keeps commercial vehicles, which it defines to include any vehicle of 8,000 pounds or more and any vehicle or trailer longer than 20 feet, off residential streets from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. and limits them to two hours a day otherwise, though active loading and unloading is exempt. Recreational vehicles can't park overnight on the street without the police chief's authorization, a property owner or occupant can request an overnight permit, and no vehicle or trailer may sit on a public street for more than 72 consecutive hours. Placing any object on a street, sidewalk or right-of-way is an encroachment that needs a permit from the city manager.
