Cleveland rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.
Key rule: In Cleveland, a large vehicle or trailer (over 25 feet long, 80 inches wide or 82 inches tall) may not be parked on a street in a residential zone between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m., except while actually loading or unloading for up to 24 hours or with an oversized vehicle parking permit.
Cleveland's Municipal Code bars large vehicles and trailers, including vehicles over 25 feet long, 80 inches wide or 82 inches tall, from parking on streets in R-1, R-2 and R-3 residential zones between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. People actually loading or unloading are exempt for up to 24 hours, and residents can get an oversized vehicle parking permit from the city clerk's office for up to two periods of five consecutive days. Any vehicle left on a public street for more than 72 consecutive hours needs the police chief's prior approval, and placing boxes or other items that block a street or sidewalk is unlawful.

Cleveland moving questions
Can I park a rental moving truck or trailer on my street overnight in Cleveland, TN?
Not in an R-1, R-2 or R-3 residential zone if it counts as a large vehicle (over 25 feet long, 80 inches wide or 82 inches tall) or is a trailer, unless an exception applies. The code bans them from residential streets between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m., but someone actually loading or unloading is exempt for up to 24 hours.
Is there a permit to keep a moving truck on the street longer?
Yes. Cleveland issues oversized vehicle parking permits, applied for through the city clerk's office, to give owners extra time to park near their home for loading or unloading. A resident's permit covers two periods of up to five consecutive calendar days each, the vehicle must park on the street directly next to the permit address, and a resident may apply for three permits a year.
How long can a vehicle stay parked on a Cleveland street?
No more than 72 consecutive hours on a public street (outside the fire limits) without the police chief's prior approval.
Can I stage boxes or furniture on the sidewalk during a move?
The code makes it unlawful to place boxes, barrels or any other thing on streets, alleys or sidewalks so as to block free passage of the public, so keep the path clear.
