In Bristol, overnight street parking is banned from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. every night from December 15 to March 15, and the city can declare emergency parking bans outside that window. Putting building material or another temporary obstruction on a street or sidewalk needs a permit from the director of public works, and nothing may be placed within 10 feet of a fire hydrant. Recreational vehicles may sit on a public street for up to 18 hours while loading or unloading, and heavy commercial vehicles, defined partly by size thresholds such as a length over 21 feet, may park on most public roadways only under a short list of exceptions.
