Key rule: In Yorkville, a portable outdoor storage device needs a temporary use permit, only one is allowed on a lot at a time, and on a residential lot it may stay no more than 30 days per calendar year.
Yorkville's Unified Development Ordinance allows one portable outdoor storage device per lot with a temporary use permit, up to 8 by 12 by 8 feet, for no more than 30 days a year on a residential lot, and it may not extend into the street, sidewalk or parkway unless the permit allows it. Detached trailers may not park on city streets or rights-of-way, parking on city parkways is banned at all times, and the city can remove an obstruction from a public way and bill the person responsible.
