Key rule: In Manhattan, a vehicle longer than 22 feet, wider than eight feet or taller than eight feet may not park on a street or alley in a residential district at night, except while actively loading or unloading with the driver present or under a temporary permit from the city clerk.
In Manhattan, City Code Section 31-32 bars oversized vehicles (over 22 feet long, or over eight feet wide or tall) from residential streets and alleys between a half-hour after sunset and a half-hour before sunrise, except while actively loading or unloading with the driver present; the city clerk can issue a temporary permit for up to five consecutive days at $5 a day. No vehicle may stay in one spot on a city street for more than 48 hours. Parking is banned on posted emergency snow routes starting two hours after a traffic emergency is announced, and some neighborhoods near campus and Aggieville have permit-parking zones.
