Reading rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.
Key rule: In Reading, a trailer may not be parked or left standing on any town street unless it is attached to a motor vehicle capable of towing it, and violators face a fine and tow.
In Reading, the town's Traffic and Parking Regulations bar parking a trailer on a town street unless it is hitched to a vehicle that can tow it, and they restrict commercial vehicles over 10,000 lbs on public ways from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., with exceptions for residential work approved by the Police Department. A parked vehicle must leave a clear lane at least ten feet wide for passing traffic. The regulations also ban parking on any street from 1 a.m. to 6 a.m., while the police parking page describes the overnight on-street ban as covering downtown as determined by the Chief of Police, and vehicles that violate the winter parking ban or hinder snow removal are ticketed and towed.
