Ann Arbor rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.
Key rule: In Ann Arbor, a city Barricade Permit, applied for through the STREAM portal with a liability insurance certificate and a site plan, is required to stage a dumpster or storage container in the street or on the sidewalk.
In Ann Arbor, occupying any part of the street or sidewalk, such as staging a dumpster or storage container, needs a Barricade Permit from the city, priced by square foot per day plus review, inspection and processing fees; if a traffic lane must close, a separate lane-closure permit is due at least three working days ahead. Trucks or buses over 22 feet or 5,500 pounds empty weight may not park on a residential street for more than 3 hours between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. unless they are actively providing a service. In winter, the city can declare an on-street snow parking ban on some or all streets with at least 12 hours' notice.
