High Point rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.
Key rule: In High Point, the city code bars parking or storing trailers of any kind and stand-alone containerized units on public streets except to load and unload, so a portable storage container can't simply be left at the curb.
In High Point, trucks, trailers of any kind and stand-alone containerized units may not be parked or stored on public streets except to load and unload, although trucks of one ton capacity or less are exempt. Storing a detached trailer on a street once its towing unit is disconnected is also banned, and boxes, crates and similar obstructions may not be placed in the street or on the sidewalk. Closing a lane or sidewalk on a public street requires a separate Lane Closure Permit from the city's Transportation Department.
