Raleigh rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.

Key rule: In Raleigh, putting a dumpster or portable storage container in a street parking space needs a right-of-way permit, which city staff issue with Raleigh Parking and which requires a site plan and a parking application.

In Raleigh, anyone who wants to place an object in or occupy the street, sidewalk or shoulder needs a right-of-way permit, and dumpsters or portable storage devices in legal parking spaces are permitted through Right-of-Way staff working with Raleigh Parking. City code bars trucks and trailers from parking on city streets except for travel and loading or unloading, though trucks no wider than 8 feet and no longer than 20 feet are exempt. In residential permit zones, visitor passes last 24 hours and only current permit holders can buy them.
