Parking and permits

Hillsboro rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.

Key rule: In Hillsboro, no vehicle may stay parked in one place on a street for more than 72 consecutive hours, and the city code lets a truck or truck trailer park more than 30 minutes on unsigned streets only when it's being used in connection with the property right next to it.

In Hillsboro, the city code bars parking on a street for more than 72 consecutive hours, and on streets with no posted parking rules a truck, truck trailer or large commercial vehicle may stay over 30 minutes only when it is being used for the property right beside it and the street is wide enough for others to pass safely. Alleys are for loading and unloading only, with a 30-minute limit, and vehicles with a gross weight of 10,000 pounds or more may not park in the street right-of-way unless they are ORS Chapter 825 licensed trucks making deliveries or providing services. Work that temporarily closes part of the public right-of-way needs a General Right-of-Way Permit.
