Portland rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.
Key rule: In Portland, reserving curb space for a moving truck, trailer or storage container takes a PBOT Temporary Street Use Permit, and the city says to allow 5 to 7 business days from application to your permit start date.
In Portland, PBOT's Temporary Street Use Permitting office issues permits that reserve on-street parking for residential moves with a moving truck, trailer or storage container; passenger cars and SUVs can't be reserved. Signs posted by permit holders outside PBOT's service area are enforceable only 72 hours after Parking Enforcement verifies them, so the city says to allow 5 to 7 business days in total. City code limits a truck, utility trailer, storage container or drop box parked next to or across from a home to eight hours while loading or unloading for the occupants, and no vehicle or property may be stored on the street for more than 24 hours.
