Springfield rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.
Key rule: In Springfield, city code limits a truck, bus, camper, motor home, trailer or boat to 16 consecutive hours parked on city streets in any 72-hour period, and in a residential area it must be associated with a nearby residence.
In Springfield, a truck, bus, camper, motor home, trailer or boat may stay parked on city streets for no more than 16 consecutive hours in any 72-hour period, and in a residential area it must be tied to a nearby residence; the code's 'truck' means a property-carrying vehicle over 6,000 pounds that is licensed as a motor truck or is 72 inches or wider, excluding pickups. Restricted trucks of 10,000 pounds or more may park off truck routes only while actually loading or unloading. Alley parking is limited to loading or unloading for no more than 20 minutes, and residents may not post their own signs to restrict street parking.

Springfield moving questions
How long can a moving truck or trailer stay parked on a Springfield street?
City code limits a truck, bus, camper, motor home, trailer or boat to 16 consecutive hours on city streets in any 72-hour period, and in a residential area it must be associated with a nearby residence.
Does a rental moving truck count as a 'truck' under Springfield's parking rule?
The code defines a truck as a vehicle licensed as a motor or semi truck, or 72 inches or wider, that is primarily used to carry property and weighs over 6,000 pounds with or without its load; pickups and passenger cars are excluded. It does not name rental trucks, so whether a given truck qualifies depends on those criteria.
Can a heavy truck park on a residential street in Springfield to load?
A restricted truck (a commercial or industrial truck with a gross weight of 10,000 pounds or more) may park off permitted truck routes only while actually loading or unloading, or where Public Works has posted signs allowing truck parking.
Can I put out my own no-parking signs for moving day in Springfield?
City code bars anyone from marking the curb or street, or posting anything intended to prohibit or restrict parking on a street, except as the parking code provides.
