Parking and permits

Swatara Township rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.

Key rule: In Swatara Township, it is unlawful to park, place or leave any object other than a self-propelled motor vehicle in the paved cartway of a township street, alley or way.

Swatara Township's code bars any object other than a motor vehicle, which it defines as self-propelled, from the paved cartway of township streets and alleys, and the township may remove and impound nonmotorized objects found there. On a few listed streets only passenger cars may park, and a car attached to a trailer doesn't count. Once the Township Manager declares a snow emergency, parking is banned on designated snow emergency routes.
