Parking and permits

Lehi rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.

Key rule: In Lehi, a rental trailer may sit on a public street only while it is being loaded or unloaded, and for no more than 12 hours.

In Lehi, city code allows a trailer, motor home, camper or RV on a public street only to load or unload it, for no more than 12 hours, and bars leaving any vehicle on a street for more than 48 hours in a row. Vehicles of 16,000 pounds or more are restricted vehicles, but the rule does not restrict one stopping to deliver household furniture. In winter, current code bars street parking during a snowstorm and for 48 hours after it ends (the city's snow brochure still says 24 hours), and the brochure says trucks, trailers and RVs may not be parked on any public street from November 1 to March 30 between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.

Lehi moving questions

Can a rental moving truck or trailer park overnight on a Lehi street in winter?

Not between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. from November 1 to March 30. Lehi's snow-removal guide says city code prohibits parking vehicles, trucks, trailers, RVs or ATVs on any public street during those hours, so plan to keep the truck in a driveway or off-street lot overnight.

What if it snows on move day in Lehi?

Parking on the street during a snowstorm or within 24 hours after one is prohibited, and the city asks residents to clear vehicles and trash cans from the street during and right after a storm.

How quickly are Lehi residential streets plowed?

Residential areas are cleared once priority roads are safe, and subdivisions, cul-de-sacs and dead-end streets are not plowed until four inches or more of snow has accumulated. Crews plow from November 1 to April 30.

How long can a rental trailer stay on a Lehi street during a move?

Only as long as it takes to load or unload it, and no more than 12 hours. Lehi city code makes it unlawful to park or keep a trailer, motor home, camper, boat or RV on a public street except for that limited purpose.

Can a big moving truck stop on a residential street in Lehi?

Lehi treats vehicles of 16,000 pounds gross weight or more, and semitractors or semitrailers, as restricted vehicles, but its restricted-vehicle rules do not restrict one parking or stopping while it is being used to deliver household furniture or accessories.

Can I leave a vehicle on a Lehi street for a few days while moving?

No. Lehi city code bars parking a vehicle on any street for more than a consecutive 48-hour period.

Is the Lehi snow parking ban 24 or 48 hours after a storm?

The current city code (Section 7-1-1) bars parking on the street within 48 hours after a storm ends, or whenever an inch or more of snow or ice has built up on the traveled way. The city's older snow-removal brochure says 24 hours, so plan on the longer code limit.
