Parking and permits

Provo rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.

Key rule: In Provo, city code makes it unlawful to park a trailer on a public street or alley for more than 72 consecutive hours, and moving it and re-parking it on the same block face within 72 hours still counts as continuous parking.

In Provo, a trailer or similar conveyance may not stay parked on a public street or alley for more than 72 consecutive hours unless the registered owner holds a Parking Services permit, which cannot exceed seven days. Goods being received or delivered may not sit on a sidewalk for more than one hour, and a 10-foot passageway must be kept clear. Several neighborhoods are residential permit-parking areas (in the Carterville area only authorized vehicles may park on the street from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.), and in winter the Mayor can ban parking on snow emergency routes, with an automatic ban on signed primary routes once six inches of snow and ice build up.
