Tacoma rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.
Key rule: In Tacoma, a dumpster or a moving container such as a POD in the street falls under the city's Right-of-Way Use (RUSE) permit, and no vehicle or trailer may stay parked on a public street for more than seven calendar days.
In Tacoma, the city's Right-of-Way Use (RUSE) permit covers dumpsters, moving containers such as PODS and overtime parking. The municipal code limits any vehicle or trailer to seven calendar days on a public street, bars detached commercial trailers from the right-of-way unless they are being actively loaded or unloaded, and limits heavy commercial vehicles in residential districts to one hour unless they are loading or unloading. In a Residential Parking Zone, cars without a permit may park for two hours, and residents' guest passes last 24 hours.
