Wheeling rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.
Key rule: In Wheeling, a truck or van, other than one of three-fourths ton or less, may park on a city street only while it is actually being loaded or unloaded.
Wheeling's traffic code lets a truck, van, motor home, camper or tandem vehicle park on a city street only for the time spent actually loading or unloading, and its definition of truck and van leaves out vehicles of three-fourths ton or less. No vehicle may be parked on any city street for more than one hour between 2 and 6 a.m. unless the Traffic Commission designates otherwise, and on roadways under 18 feet wide a vehicle may stop only to load or unload and may not block traffic for more than 15 minutes. Using a street or sidewalk in a way that interferes with its ordinary use requires a City Manager permit applied for at least ten days ahead.
