Parking and permits

Monterey rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.

Key rule: In Monterey, in residential areas the city has designated, a vehicle or trailer longer than 20 feet and taller than 6 feet 6 inches may not be parked on the street or in a front-yard driveway between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m.

Monterey bars vehicles and trailers over 20 feet long and 6 feet 6 inches tall from streets and front-yard driveways between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. in designated residential areas, and trailers are measured with their load. Semi-trailers may not be left on city streets unless connected to a motor vehicle, and posted overnight restrictions bar all parking from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. Residential permit parking areas now use virtual permits, and loading zones allow up to 20 minutes for equipment or materials.
