Parking and permits

Aspen rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.

Key rule: In Aspen, reserving curb space for a moving truck takes a city parking reservation permit, and the application is due at least a week before move day.

Aspen treats a moving truck at the curb as a parking reservation: the city's permit covers deliveries and moving trucks, the application is due at least one week ahead, and in residential zones the reservation signs go up 72 hours before. Without a permit, residential zones allow two free hours per day with no re-park, and trailers and RVs can no longer get residential permits. In winter, the downtown core is no-parking from 3 a.m. to 7 a.m., and cars left during snow events can be towed.

  • Containers, trucks and the street

Aspen requires a Parking Reservation Permit to reserve street parking spaces for vehicles or equipment, and the city lists dumpsters, job trailers and moving trucks among the uses it covers.

  • Containers, trucks and the street

In Aspen's residential zones, reservation signage must go up 72 hours before the reservation starts, so the city requires at least seven days' notice.
