Parking and permits

Kennesaw rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.

Key rule: In Kennesaw, no tractor, trailer, bus or truck with a combined weight of 8,500 pounds or more may be driven or parked on residential streets without the city's written consent, unless it is actively loading or unloading with the driver present.

Kennesaw's traffic code keeps tractors, trailers, buses and trucks with a combined weight of 8,500 pounds or more off residential streets without the city's written consent, but the rule does not apply to a vehicle actively loading or unloading with its driver present. Placing any obstruction in a street, easement or public sidewalk requires the consent of the Mayor and Council, no one may park on a sidewalk, a yellow curb or against a posted sign, and vehicles may only be driven on roads, streets, alleys and drives, not across sidewalks or lawns. On private lots, every vehicle, including commercial vehicles and utility trailers, must park on a hardened surface, and in residential districts that means a concrete or asphalt driveway, carport or garage.
