Wilmette rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.
Key rule: In Wilmette, no truck, trailer, semi-trailer or bus may stand or park on a street longer than needed for reasonably quick loading or unloading, though the rule does not cover a van or truck used for noncommercial purposes.
Wilmette's code keeps trucks and trailers on the street only as long as loading or unloading takes, while excluding vans and trucks used for noncommercial purposes. A portable storage container needs a village permit that expires after 30 days, may not exceed 16 feet, and may not sit on the public right-of-way. Police grant temporary overnight street parking for reasons including moving, and street parking is banned during a snowfall once snow reaches two inches.
