Cedar Rapids rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.
Key rule: In Cedar Rapids, a motor truck or trailer more than 84 inches wide or 20 feet long may park on a street for no more than 60 minutes in daytime or 30 minutes at night, except while it is being loaded or unloaded.
In Cedar Rapids, City Code Section 61.096 limits motor trucks, trailers and motor homes over 84 inches wide or 20 feet long to 60 minutes of street parking between sunrise and sunset and 30 minutes overnight, with an exception for loading and unloading, and Section 61.089 lets moving vans park at right angles to the curb while loading, with the Police Chief's permission needed on through streets and in the business district. Traffic Engineering can approve a temporary 'Emergency No Parking - Tow Away Zone' on request, with the temporary signs posted 12 hours ahead. During a declared snow emergency, parking on posted Emergency Snow Routes is banned and violators may be ticketed or towed, and the code sets odd/even parking on residential streets.
