Parking and permits

Olathe rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.

Key rule: In Olathe, trucks and trailers may not be parked on city streets between 6 p.m. and 5:59 a.m., and anyone operating one must provide off-street parking when it is parked for two hours or longer, except for vehicles loading or unloading at the curb under the code's loading rule.

In Olathe, the traffic code requires off-street parking for trucks, trailers and similar vehicles parked two hours or longer and bars them from city streets overnight, from 6 p.m. to 5:59 a.m., with an exception for vehicles carrying merchandise or materials that are loading or unloading at the curb. For this rule a truck is a motor vehicle used to transport or deliver freight and merchandise. Trailers may not be parked or stored in the roadway or between the curb and the property line, items may be left on public property only while loading or unloading, and a vehicle left on a street for 48 hours or more can be impounded. Major roads and collectors are plowed first in snow.
