Baltimore rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.
Key rule: In Baltimore, the city DOT issues temporary right-of-way permits for moving trucks, storage containers and dumpsters, and standard processing takes 15 days, so apply well ahead of move day.
In Baltimore, moving trucks, storage containers and dumpsters are listed right-of-way permit types from the Department of Transportation, with a standard 15-day processing time and fees such as $65 a week for a dumpster or a curb lane closure. The city traffic code limits commercial vehicles (a definition that includes every trailer) to one hour in front of homes and bars them from all streets from 1 a.m. to 7 a.m., but exempts a vehicle engaged in loading. Permit-parking residents can get free Single-Day guest permits, and declared snow emergencies clear designated snow emergency routes.
