Monroe rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.
Key rule: In Monroe, the city code's ban on commercial, property-hauling and heavier vehicles in residential districts does not apply to temporary parking for loading or unloading moving vans.
In Monroe, the city code bars commercial motor vehicles, property-hauling vehicles and vehicles over two rear axles or four tons from stopping or parking in residential districts, but exempts temporary parking to load or unload moving vans and other purposes allowed by a police permit, with no such stop lasting more than 48 hours. Where spaces aren't marked, vehicles must park parallel to the curb and leave at least 16 feet of clear roadway, and alleys must keep ten feet open. Tractor-trailers, commercial vehicles and recreation vehicles are limited to one hour of street parking a day unless otherwise regulated.
