Parking and permits

Upper Darby rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.

Key rule: In Upper Darby, a portable storage container or dumpster on a public street needs a permit from the Department of Licenses and Inspection first, and the permit runs only for the actual period of use, up to 30 days.

In Upper Darby Township, a dumpster, open-top container or portable storage container on a public street needs a Licenses and Inspection permit, must carry reflectors on all four sides and may only sit where vehicles can legally park, for no more than 30 days per permit. Utility and truck trailers may not be parked on township streets from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., and the noise code bars loading or unloading that causes a noise disturbance between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
