Spartanburg rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.
Key rule: In Spartanburg, moving or delivery vans being loaded or unloaded are exempt from the parking rules in City Code Sec. 40-75 for up to 48 hours without a permit, and longer periods require a permit from the city building official.
In Spartanburg, City Code Sec. 40-75 bans commercial vehicles from residential streets and lots and keeps trucks over three-quarters ton off city streets from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. and limits them to loading and unloading during the day, but moving or delivery vans being loaded or unloaded are exempt for up to 48 hours, with a building official permit needed beyond that. Any object other than a lawfully parked, registered motor vehicle counts as a street obstruction, including in the strip between the curb and property line, and needs the city manager's consent. Trailer coaches may not be parked overnight on any street or public place.
