Oak Ridge rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.
Key rule: In Oak Ridge, it is unlawful to park or store a recreational vehicle or utility trailer in marked or unmarked on-street parking on any public street.
Oak Ridge bans parking or storing recreational vehicles and utility trailers in on-street parking, a definition that covers any unpowered trailer used to carry personal effects or property, but the code allows temporary street parking for up to seven consecutive days for loading, unloading or trip preparation, and the vehicle can't then be moved to another street spot. A vehicle stopped on a street must leave at least 18 feet of open street width beside it. Under the zoning ordinance, a portable storage container needs a no-fee temporary use permit, and in residential zones temporary storage, including commercial dumpsters, is limited to remodeling or damage cases and to 180 days on the premises.
