Parking and permits

Missouri City rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.

Key rule: In Missouri City, a portable storage container (POD) on a residential lot needs a permit approved by the director of planning, may not be placed in the street, on a sidewalk or in the right-of-way, and in most single-family districts may stay no more than 30 days in a 12-month period.

In Missouri City, a portable storage unit in a suburban or residential district needs a permit from the director of planning, can be no larger than 9 by 20 feet, and may not go in the street, on a sidewalk or in the right-of-way; in most single-family districts only one is allowed at a time for up to 30 days in a 12-month period. Vehicles rated over 9,000 pounds may not stop, stand or park in residential zoning districts (parking is defined to exclude temporary loading or unloading), and trailers may be parked in a residential district for no more than three consecutive days. Parked vehicles must leave 20 feet of roadway open on two-way streets, and the noise code counts sounds between midnight and 6:59 a.m. as a factor in judging disturbing noise.
