San Jose rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.
Key rule: In San Jose, you can reserve curb space for a moving truck or moving pod with a Department of Transportation Tow-Away Permit, which the city recommends requesting at least two weeks ahead.
In San Jose, the Department of Transportation issues Tow-Away Permits that reserve curbside parking for moving pods and moving trucks, and a storage container in a metered or posted space automatically needs one; where an encroachment permit from Public Works is also needed, it must be issued first. City code bans parking commercial vehicles rated at 10,000 pounds or more on residential streets, but not commercial vehicles making pickups or deliveries of goods, and vehicles over six feet tall or seven feet wide cannot park in posted no large vehicle parking zones. Any vehicle left on a street for more than 72 consecutive hours is in violation.
