Parking and permits

Tracy rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.

Key rule: In Tracy, placing materials on, or otherwise encroaching into, a public street requires a written permit from the Public Works Department, and no vehicle may be kept on a street for more than 72 hours.

Tracy requires a written Public Works permit before materials are placed on or anything else encroaches into a public street, and the permit can set the hours the encroachment may occur. Vehicles may not be kept on a street, alley or right-of-way for more than 72 hours, detached trailers are limited to four hours, and vehicles six feet or taller may not park within 100 feet of an intersection. Alleys allow 30 minutes of loading or unloading, and the council may restrict overnight parking and heavy commercial vehicles on posted streets by resolution.
