Modesto rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.
Key rule: In Modesto, city code bans oversized vehicles and trailers from residential streets Monday through Friday, but exempts loading or unloading as long as the vehicle stays on the street no more than 72 hours.
In Modesto, oversized vehicles (over 20 feet long, or over 7 feet wide or tall) and trailers may not park on residential streets Monday through Friday, except while being loaded, unloaded or cleaned for no more than 72 hours, and a trailer may not be left on a residential street unless it is hitched to a vehicle able to move it. Commercial vehicles rated at 10,000 pounds or more are barred from residential streets except to make pickups or deliveries, and marked commercial vehicles making deliveries are covered by the residential permit parking exemptions. Obstructing a street with anything large or bulky, or leaving personal property that blocks traffic in the right-of-way, is prohibited, and loud yelling or shouting between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. is a public nuisance.
