Lawrence rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.
Key rule: In Lawrence, a truck or trailer with more than one ton of load capacity, or longer than 19 feet, taller than 6 feet 6 inches or wider than 7 feet, may park on a city street only to load or unload, and never for more than two hours.
In Lawrence, the city code lets trucks and trailers over one ton of capacity, 19 feet long, 6 feet 6 inches tall or 7 feet wide park on city streets only to load or unload, for no more than two hours. A trailer can stay on a public street up to six hours unhitched or 24 hours hitched. Any activity in a city street's right-of-way needs a right-of-way use permit from the City Engineer, and if a travel lane or sidewalk is even partly blocked, the permit number and a 24-hour phone number must be posted at the site; thoroughfare streets need a City of Indianapolis permit instead.
