Parking and permits

Bowie rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.

Key rule: In Bowie, campers, boat trailers and cargo trailers may not be parked on a city street unless they're being loaded or unloaded right then, so a rental trailer has to come off the street once the work stops.

In Bowie, campers, boat trailers and cargo trailers may sit on city streets only during loading and unloading, and vehicles that meet the code's commercial-vehicle definition, which turns on business use, may not park on city streets. Any vehicle must move at least a car length every 72 hours, nothing may block a sidewalk, and equipment or other obstructions in the right-of-way need the City Manager's permission. Two inches of snow automatically triggers a snow emergency that bans street parking until the snow is cleared.
