Gaithersburg rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.
Key rule: In Gaithersburg, the city code bans parking any trailer, including camper and boat trailers, on city streets or other public property at any time, so plan where a rental trailer will sit before move day.
In Gaithersburg, trailers may not be parked on city streets at any time, and commercial vehicles (a definition that includes vehicles over 21 feet long or 7 feet 6 inches tall) may park on a roadway only while actually loading or unloading. No vehicle may stay on a street for more than 48 hours, and obstructing a public road or right-of-way needs a city permit first. Permit parking streets allow two-hour visitor parking without a permit, residents can add three-day visitor permits, and declared snow emergencies clear snow emergency routes, cul-de-sacs and, on set days, one side of each street.
