Parking and permits

Guilderland rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.

Key rule: In Guilderland, only one temporary storage container, such as a POD, is allowed per residential lot, and it may not be placed on a street, right-of-way or sidewalk.

These rules come from the Town of Guilderland government's Town Code, which covers the town outside the Village of Altamont. A residential lot may hold one temporary storage container, no larger than 10 by 20 by 10 feet, set back five feet from property lines and buildings and kept off streets, rights-of-way and sidewalks; one left more than 30 days needs a building permit. Dumpsters are also barred from streets and sidewalks, and from November through March parking on Town streets is banned from 2 a.m. to 7 a.m., with civil penalties up to $50 for a first violation.
