Parking and permits

State College rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.

Key rule: In State College, the borough code prohibits parking on all borough streets between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., so plan to move a rental truck off the street overnight unless the Parking Department grants an exception.

In State College, parking is prohibited on all borough streets from 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m.; residents can ask the Parking Department, before 11 pm, for up to three nights' exception for a guest or a breakdown. Placing any object in a street or other right-of-way so that it hinders free passage needs a borough Rights-of-Way Permit, and in the residential permit districts a vehicle without an R permit is limited to two hours from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays. Once snow reaches three inches, or the Borough Manager declares a snow emergency, vehicles must come off the streets.
