Parking and permits

Williamsport rules for moving trucks, trailers and containers.

Key rule: In Williamsport, a trailer may not be parked on any city street unless it is still attached to a vehicle that can pull it, and no vehicle may sit in one spot on a street for more than 72 hours.

In Williamsport, a trailer parked on the street must stay hitched to a towing vehicle, and any vehicle left in one place on a street for over 72 hours counts as stored, which the code prohibits. In the three resident permit zones a permit decal is required from August 15 through May 31, although commercial or delivery vehicles may park temporarily to load or unload. During a declared snow emergency, parking is banned on the listed snow emergency routes until 24 hours after the snow stops or the emergency ends, whichever is longer.
